    002- Birthday Recovery
The trip to the zoo was a great success, as was the rather-larger-than-necessary chocolate cake Teddy insisted on. We've still got a few layers in the fridge, if anyone would like to stop by. I received a lovely pair of earrings from Ted's sister, and some sort of interpretive string art from Teddy. All in all, a lovely day.

And yes, another teacup appeared. At least I assume it's another teacup, I have yet to open it.

With my yearly reminder of "oldenness" (Teddy's term, bless the little kneazle) behind me, I now have the Hestia's Hearth Gala to begin to plan for. There are robes to be ordered for Teddy and altered for myself, and of course the ever-present fight with my publishers to get my books donated for a good cause.

I just really hope we don't have a repeat of last year, where an extremely inebriated gentleman got it into his head that I was Bellatrix Lestrange and attempted to hex me. I could really do without another one of those.

    Journal 001- Birthdays
I'm not sure I understand the point of these things, but the Welcome Witch at Mungo's has been raving about how they've improved her social life, and let's face it- my last conversation was with a seven year old about the necessity of bathing- my social life needs all the help it can get. So as a birthday present to myself, I've joined the ranks of the magical journal users.

I feel I'm entitled, as last year my only present was a macaroni collage from Teddy. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely collage that is still dropping bits of pasta and glue all over my kitchen floor at regular intervals. Teddy, of course, is irrationally excited, his hair going all sorts of red as he plans the entertainment for "my" birthday. Somehow, I don't think most old women celebrate by going to the zoo.

...there is also the matter of the singing teacups. Since the year after Teddy was born, every January a singing teacup has appeared. Delivered anonymously by an owl I don't recognize, with no note or any sort of identification. You can be assured that I have assured that they are completely safe... they just sing. It's really quite odd. I suppose I'll get a seventh one this year.

    Oh well.

    Application for Six Degrees
Once upon a time the world was sweeter than we knew
Everything was ours, how happy we were then
But somehow once upon a time never comes again
